V Class

Queen of Vancouver

MV Queen of Esquimalt engine room. This ship was originally built in Victoria in 1963 byVictoria Machinery Depot Co. and had a capacity of 100 cars.  Platform decks were added in 1967 to increase the capacity of 150 and, in 1969, the ship was "stretched" to further in crease the automobile  capacity to 192. In September 1981, the ferry was re-engined, cut horizontally, "lifted", and an additional car deck installed.  Also, new retractable platform decks were added to increase the vehicle capacity to 376. The Queen of Esquimalt was back in service in June 1982.
