P.A.T.S. Pets and Volunteers

P.A.T.S.  pets come in all shapes and sizes.  While most are dogs, P.A.T.S. therapy pets include cats, rabbits, birds, goats, even a llama, a miniature horse, and a snake.

Any animal being considered as a therapy pet must pass a behaviour test, administered by a veterinarian, before being accepted into the program. Participating pets must be in good health, and vaccinations must be kept up to date. shoulder.jpg (196035 bytes)

Human volunteers receive orientation regarding safety procedures, confidentiality, and other issues relevant to the facilities they visit.   Throughout the year, volunteers have the opportunity to attend workshops presented by health care professionals.

Support Line volunteers receive special training in listening and support skills, and work on a rotating schedule to provide this valuable public service every day of the year.
