Finding Books Online:
If you are looking for a particular book and you've already checked your local library, archives and local book stores (new and used), you might want to try some of the following book-finder sites.
The sources listed below are aids for locating books, including those which are out-of-print or hard to find. None are specifically genealogy-oriented although all of them list books on genealogical subjects.
Note that these sites are commercial enterprises. However, listing them here does not imply an endorsement of any of them. They are listed in no particular order.

~ http://www.abebooks.com/ -- described on site as "the world's largest network of independent booksellers". Includes a section for finding rare, used and out-of-print books as well as French, German and UK links. Search by author, title or topic.
~ http://www.bookfinder.com/ -- advertises itself as "the ultimate resource" with "over 30 million new, used, rare, and out of print books at your fingertips....." Search by author or title. Converts prices into the currency of your choice.
~ http://www.eurolibri.net/ -- thiis site states that it's a "gateway to online book trade in Europe" for "antiquarian and out of print books" as well as new ones. Links to book finders in France, Germany, Netherlands, UK and other European countries.
~ http://www.powells.com -- states that it's "the largest new and used bookstore in the world". Includes Rare Book Room page as well as a Search feature to look for books by subject or by author/title.You can choose to be notified by them when out-of-stock books become available. Note: this source may not be readily available to non-North Americans.
