How to subscribe (join) the H-W-E list:

To subscribe to (or join) the H-W-E list is easy and takes just a few moments. You can unsubscribe (or leave) anytime, if you find that it's not for you.

You have two choices as to how you would like to receive list messages.

~ a) If you'd like to receive list messages individually (one at a time) -- usually a few each day -- you'll want to subscribe in list or mail mode. Address your request to: Huguenots-Walloons-Europe-L-request@rootsweb.com. Put only the word subscribe in your message and in the subject line. Shortly after you've done that, you'll receive a welcome message which confirms that you have successfully subscribed to the list. Please save the welcome message for future reference. It has useful information about the list.

~ b) If you'd like to receive list messages all together, in a group -- about once a day -- you should subscribe in digest mode. To do this, address your request to: Huguenots-Walloons-Europe-D-request@rootsweb.com, putting only the word subscribe in the message and in the subject line. Soon after, you will receive a welcome message which confirms that you are a subscriber. Please save the welcome message for future reference. It has useful information about the list.

You may want to post (send a message) to the list immediately or you may want to wait a while until you feel comfortable. In either case, please read the list guidelines before posting your first message.

Finally, two important points to keep in mind:

~ Changing your e-mail address? If you change your e-mail address, you will need to unsubscribe yourself from the list, using your old address, and then re-subscribe yourself, using your new address. If this is not possible, contact the list administrator for assistance.

~ Mailbox full? You should be aware that you could become unsubscribed unintentionally, if you allow your e-mailbox to become so full that there is no longer any room for incoming messages. In this case, Rootsweb will try repeatedly to deliver messages to you but, if unsuccessful, will unsubscribe you automatically. Because your mailbox is full, you will receive no notification of this fact and will probably be unaware of it, at least for a while. You can, of course, re-subscribe to the list but you should make sure that your mailbox remains clear so that this situation does not happen again. For example, it's a good idea to unsubscribe temporarily if you are going to be away from your computer for more than a few days (eg. on holiday). Just unsubscribe when you want messages to stop.
