Walloons in Modern Belgium:

It is true that there are French-speaking Walloons in Belgium today. However, in discussions on the H-W-E mailing list, the term Walloon is not meant in this modern sense. Instead, it is viewed in the more historical perspective of the 1500-1600's. During this time period, the Walloons -- like the Huguenots with whom they are often confused and/or combined -- were Protestant followers of John Calvin's Reformed Church.

Wallonia is a region of present-day Belgium which is located to the south of Brussels and between the Netherlands, Germany, Luxembourg and France. If you would like to learn more about this region, the following URLs may be helpful:
