Who Are We?

The Malcolm Island Birding Club is an informal group of individuals interested in bird life on Malcolm Island. Group members participate annually in the Christmas Bird Count and have contributed results to the Broughton CBC since 1991. More recently, the group started an annual spring count in memory of an extraordinary birder and individual, Doug Innes. Other group projects include the development of a Malcolm Island checklist and, now, this website.

The goals of the Malcolm Island Birding Club are:

  1. To provide opportunities to residents and visitors for education about birds and natural history generally on Malcolm Island.
  2. To develop and maintain a checklist of Malcolm Island birds.
  3. To gather and maintain information about bird life, behaviour and natural history generally on Malcolm Island.
  4. To sponsor the annual CBC and spring bird counts on Malcolm Island.
  5. To have fun!
