Q Does MacMillan Bloedel post info about when the Nitnat logging road is active and when it is clear, anywhere on the web?
A Vehicle traffic occurs Monday to Fiday from early in the morning to late at night; tourist, MB & logging contractors
The big off-highway trucks run usually between 7am-6pmMy advice is to treat all roads, ie to Nitinat, as active at all times drive as if there is a logging truck around every corner. There is no info. posted on a website so if visitors wish a road update they can call me @(250) 720-2108 or Franklin Operation (West Island Wdlds.) @ (250) 720-4200

Q I am wondering if during july a weed fin is necessary to sail at nitnat?
What is the average sail size and is any special gear necessaryA There is never any weeds at Nitinat, it's close to 600 ft deep except at the beach. The water is usually completly clear of debris unless it has rained so much that it floods(I dought anyone would be there if that happens)
The gear ranges all the way from Course boards, Slalom, Bump and Jump. Sail sizes would include large sails but most days will be between 4.5M to 6.0M. The water is reasonably warm, the air can be cool, camping is the most fun. Expect to share campsites or hike up the beach with a tent.
There is a store, with light meals and a motel at the Dididat Village everything else is an hour of gravel road away so be prepared. Bring some food and water to drink and cook with. Duncan, Lake Cowichan, and Youbou on the way have all the things you may need.
