        PGOSA SEPTEMBER ACTIVITIES 

 

 


  1 NOTE - Pgosa Base of Operations returns to Oceanside Arena with the start of Public Skating and Drop-in Hockey Monday the 13th. All tickets, event info, and memberships will be available at the PGOSA Table Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings between 9 and 11. Coffee and cookies too.
  2 PANTERS WORLD CLASS HOCKEY TOURNAMENT - 6th to the 11th at Oceanside Arena. Majority of teams are from BC and Alberta with others from as far away as Ottawa, San Diego and Colorado. Four age divisions 55, 60, 65, & 70. Lots of activities planned. Everyone welcome. Come out, enjoy and welcome our visitors!! Tickets for events listed below are available from the Panters Table in the Arena lobby.
Monday - Registration with a few exhibition games; 7th to 10th - A full slate of hockey from 7:30 am to 4:30 pm; Tuesday - Wine and cheese 4:30 pm on the pond; Wednesday - 1:30 pm. "Close To You" fashion show (ladies & gents) everyone welcome. At 7 pm there’s an evening of humorous entertainment by comedian Todd Butler at the Chrysler Theatre in the Parksville Conference Centre on Jensen Street; Thursday - Salmon Bar-B-Q - first sitting at 4:30 pm and second sitting at 6:30 at the Conference Centre on Jensen.   3 RV CAMPING 12th to 16th - Pacific Playground (located at Saratoga Beach). RV sites and cabins have been set aside for PGOSANS, available on a 3-day minimum or weekly booking. Come along and join us for a week of games, golf (Tuesday), happy hours, walks, cycling, potluck dinner (Tuesday) and pancake breakfast (Wednesday). Evenings there is a campfire (weather permitting); cards and board games. Book your spot directly with Pacific Playgrounds at 1-877-239-5600.   4 BC SENIORS GAMES - from the 15th through the 18th in the Comox Valley and Campbell River. Good Luck to all athletes that qualified. Schedules will be available after Tuesday the 7th at www.bcseniorsgames.org Contact Isabelle Armstrong at 1 250 726-0673.
  5 Ladies Luncheon as listed for Tuesday the 14th has been cancelled. The first one will be October 19th at a location to be announced. Call Doris Huntley 250 248-8889 or Rita Ellen 250 954-3441.
  6 FIVE-PIN BOWLING - two dates, Thursday the 16th and 30th at Sunset Lanes. Cost of $12 includes shoes. Please be at the lanes at 1 pm for a 1:30 start. Call Bea Stark 250 248-8488
  7 MINI-GOLF - date change from the calendar to Wednesday the 22nd, at Riptide Lagoon, 10 am for a 10:30 start. Lunch at Noon at Smitty's. Contact Bea Stark 250 248-8488.
  8 SLO-PITCH AGM - Friday the 24th at 1 pm in the Qualicum Beach Civic Centre. Season and financial reports plus election of Executive. Call Peter Classen 250-738-0161.
  9 VOLLEYBALL - starts Monday the 13th with three sessions per week. 7 pm Monday at Oceanside School on Wright Road, 7 pm Tuesday at Arrowview Elementary on Bennett Road and 7:30 Thursday evening at Ballenas School on Pym Street. Call Betty Cordiner 250 752-8988.

A BIG THANK YOU TO LEN BRADLEY - leader of the program for the last five years. We will miss him and look forward to seeing him back on the trails. We also await his publication of a trail guide, "Happy Trails".

13 CYCLING - Pgosa has 4 cycling sessions per week. Monday 9:30 am, Wednesday 9:30, both leaving from Oceanside Arena. Contact Hilda Emery-250-468-5779. As only a few members seem to be attending our monthly Mixer at the Qualicum Beach Legion, we have decided to cancel this activity until further notice. 

 Wed  1st Mini Golf at Riptide Lagoon at 2:30 followed by  ‘Appy Night’ at Tigh-na-Mara. Please phone Miriam  at 250-954-0858 by Sunday August 31st if you plan to attend.

Day Trip to Gabriola Island. Carpool will leave Wembley Mall (Remax end)  at 9:30 am in order to catch the 10:35 Ferry. Please call Marg at 250-951-9604 by Tuesday the 7th if you plan to attend.

 Tue 28th Birthday Dinner at the Crow and Gate Pub in Cedar (Check it out at http://www.crowandgate.com to read about the history of BC’s first English Pub, and look over the extensive Menu). Every Wed  “Timberline” at Parksville Legion 7:30 - 10:30 pm. Donation.
 Sat  4th  Dance to “Gord and the Amigos”, Parksville Legion 8 – 11 pm, $5 pp.
   
 
PGOSA UPCOMING EVENTS

SPRING VARIETY SHOW - Late March 2011. Theme is "Las Vegas". This annual event is one of PGOSA's highlights, organized by talented members. Call Chairperson Phyllis Donnelly 250 951-9841.
