Canadian Horticultural Therapy Association
The Canadian Horticultural Therapy Association (CHTA) was established in the early 1970's as Canada's national organization. Headquartered in Guelph, Ontario, the current membership of the CHTA numbers over 250. The organization provides a network for Canadian horticultural therapists through its website, a newsletter and an annual general meeting. The CHTA provides Professional Registration and information regarding education and internship opportunities. Visit the CHTA's website for further information about the organization and its activities.

American Horticultural Therapy Association
The American Horticultural Therapy Association is an international organization, with membership of over 800 persons from countries all over the world. Between 1999 and 2002, I was privileged to sit as Secretary of the AHTA, attending board meetings in the US alongside the established greats of Horticultural Therapy.
Membership with the AHTA is the best connection you can have to the world of horticultural therapy. I professionally registered with the AHTA in 1995 as a Registered Horticultural Therapist (HTR). In 1997, I became the first woman and t he second person in Canada to become a Master Horticultural Therapist (HTM). As I write this in early 2006, there are still only three HTM's in Canada.
The all-volunteer Board of Directors works hard for the AHTA membership. Please check out the AHTA's website for information on Professional Registration, publications, resources, research network, internship and educational opportunities.
