THE "NIKKI" UPDATEJune 2005 -- Well it definitely took too long but FINALLY, Nikki has been adopted! All paws are crossed that everything works out for this sweet girl and this is her forever home. Yay Nikki! December 2004 -- Poor Nikki has been waiting so patiently! We have now transferred her to the Cowichan branch in hopes that her special someone will find her there! November 18th -- Nikki is still waiting for the wonderful home that she so deserves! This beautiful girl has so much love to give, yet still she waits day after day. Please consider Nikki if you are looking for an only dog and you are willing to provide the perfect home for this fabulous companion. August 18th -- Nikki's previous owner pleaded guilty today to one count of causing or permitting an animal to be in distress!! She is now banned from keeping more than one pet for the next two years. Nikki is still doing great at the shelter but really needs a forever home! June 23rd: Check this babe out now - the change is absolutely amazing!! Her coat is almost completely in (with the exception of a stubborn patch on her chest) and she just adores being petted now and almost seems proud of her new coat!! And check out the tail - or lack of tail! She has completely recuperated and can now sit comfortably. So now all this deserving girl needs is the world's most perfect home to call her own! On June 1st,Nikki had her tail amputated as this was the best solution for dealing with the fist sized tumour on it. She looks much better now that it is gone and her coat is growing in beautifully! This week she was also placed up for adoption so now she is waiting for that special someone who sees the gratitude in her eyes and is willing to provide an amazing home for her because she is truly deserving of it! Her special diet is rather expensive so any prospective owners must be prepared to spend $80 - $100/month on food, but is Nikki ever worth it--it has been such a joy to see her feel better and better! ![]() In April of 2004, Nikki was surrendered to the SPCA as a result of a cruelty investigation. She is suffering from a severe allergic reaction, likely food and flea related, and is now on medication, very expensive hypo-allergenic dog food, and is awaiting surgery to remove a tumour from her tail. She has already shown great improvement and her prognosis is good. Once her tail is amputated, she will need a loving foster home or permanent home. Nikki is a lovely and appreciative girl who really deserves the best and will need a home with someone who is prepared to continue with her specialized diet and veterinary care. Charges are currently pending in this case. |
