VOLUNTEER
Desparately Needed Now: Tag Day Volunteers and Foster Homes! Please see below for more information.
We are always looking for new volunteers. Our most popular volunteer activities seem to be the "cat cuddling" and "dog walking". For these activities, all prospective new volunteers must attend one of our orientation sessions which are usually held on the first Thursday of each month at 3:30pm - you can sign up at the shelter! It is important that people working on site be informed of some procedures and familiarized with the 'do's and don'ts' of helping at the shelter. Volunteers under 16 years of age must be accompanied by a responsible adult. The hours for these activities are Monday through Saturday from 1 pm to 4:30 pm so if you have some time to spare...
Your willingness to 'serve' is greatly appreciated by all the animals, staff and other members of the SPCA. We're hoping your volunteer experience will be rewarding and will leave you with the 'warm fuzzy feeling' that only giving of oneself can bring.
Other volunteer opportunities include:
- Tag days, baking, newsletter, fundraising, or other activities that take place at off site locations - please complete a volunteer registration form at the shelter and you will be contacted on an as-needed basis.
- 'Foster home' volunteers - They are the ones who take in animals who for some reason or another are not able to go up for adoption right away. This might be because they are too young, we are too full, or the pet requires some extra time and socializing before it it ready for adoption. You will also be contacted on an as-needed basis and we will come by and check the suitability of your home before your first 'assignment'!! To be placed on our fostering list, you must first complete the fostering application form at the shelter.

If any of these activities is of interest to you, please drop by the shelter and fill out the registration form!
If you are anxious to get started sooner, have any ideas about new fundraising events, questions, complaints, or just want to say "Hi" please do not hesitate to call us at the shelter (248-3811) and we will get you in touch with our volunteer coordinator who wants to make sure that you all have the opportunity to feel the joy that helping animals can bring. The shelter could not operate without the concern and help of people like you!
